Fried Egg and Bacon Sandwich

I now have a new mouth-watering sandwich we don’t have to leave home to get. The sandwich is a simple culinary delight, yet every ingredient has function. When I think of the perfect sandwich, all of the main components have to be in harmony.

Serves 4

19 Ingredients

8 slice Applewood Smoked Bacon

4 Eggs

4 slice Lamb Chopper Cheese

1 Heirloom Tomato

1 Avocado

4 Butter Lettuce Leaves

to taste Basil Mayonnaise

8 slice Sourdough Bread

1 Egg Yolk

1/2 tsp Dijon Mustard

1 cup Vegetable Oil

1 tbsp Water

6 Basil Leaves

to taste Salt

to taste Pepper

to taste Chili Powder

to taste Lemon Juice

to taste Salt

to taste Pepper

Steps 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Lay Applewood Smoked Bacon on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper.

Oven roast for approximately 20 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and reserve (reheat before serving if needed).

In a medium bowl, whisk Egg Yolk and Dijon Mustard together.

Place a towel "nest" under the bowl to hold the bowl. Gradually add drops of Vegetable Oil into the egg and mustard mixture, continuously whisking until all of the oil is emulsified and incorporated.

If the mayonnaise is too thick, gradually whisk in Water until the desired thickness is reached. The water will lighten the color of the mayonnaise to a pale yellow.

Chiffonade the Basil Leaves and add to the mayonnaise. Season the mayonnaise with Salt and Pepper. If desired, add a pinch of Chili Powder and Lemon Juice to adjust the flavor.

In a 350 degree F oven, place the Sourdough Bread on a sheet tray and toast for a few minutes. Turn the bread over and place one slice of Lamb Chopper Cheese on the bread; heat until the cheese is melted.

Prepare the garnish; cut and wash the Butter Lettuce Leaves, slice the to Heirloom Tomato and slice 1/4 of the Avocado for each sandwich.

Heat a small nonstick pan, fry each Eggs over medium-low heat until the whites are set. Season with Salt and Pepper.

Build the sandwich by stacking the sliced avocado on the bread with the melted cheese, the fried egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce, and a slice of bread with basil mayonnaise. Serve and enjoy!
