Cooking Instructions
1.
Preheat your conventional oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
2.
Use Nonstick Cooking Spray (as needed) to grease the inside of the pie dish. Be sure to cover the bottom and sides.
3.
Use a vegetable peeler to peel the skin off the Granny Smith Apple (1).
4.
Cut the apple from the core into large pieces and then grate the cut pieces of apple onto a box grater.
5.
In a medium-sized bowl add the Frozen Blackberries (1 bag), Granulated Sugar (1/2 cup), grated apple, All-Purpose Flour (3 Tbsp), Simply Organic Cinnamon, Ground (1/2 tsp), and 1 Tbsp of Lemon Juice (1). Mix together until everything is well combined.
6.
Empty the contents of the bowl into the bottom of the pie dish.
7.
In another bowl, add the Unsalted Butter (3 Tbsp), Brown Sugar (4 Tbsp), Almond Flour (4 Tbsp), Old Fashioned Rolled Oats (4 Tbsp), Simply Organic Cinnamon, Ground (1/2 tsp), and Kosher Salt (1/8 tsp).
8.
Using a fork, or the back of a mixing spoon, work the butter and other ingredients until they hold together like loose cookie dough.
9.
Sprinkle the oat topping over the top of the blackberry filling in the pie dish.
10.
Place the pie dish in the oven and bake for 40 minutes until the filling is bubbly and the topping is crisp and just beginning to brown.
11.
Serve over scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream (8 cups).
Author's Notes
This recipe can yield 8-12 servings, especially if topped with ice cream.
If you don’t have a box grater to grate the apple, you can finely chop it up instead or use the vegetable peeler to thinly slice and then chop it up with a knife.
