Five Spiced Mixed Nuts

Five Spice Mixed Nuts are an addictive snack with a hint of spice and sugar. Coated in a pleasant mixture of Chinese five-spice, maple syrup, and brown sugar, these nuts are just enough for a light sugary chew with a lingering spice that you can’t quite put your finger on and can’t stop grabbing.

Pecan Halves

Raw Peanuts

Maple Syrup

Farmhouse Eggs® Large Brown Egg , separated

Chinese Five Spice Powder

Sea Salt

Dried Cherries

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C). Spray a large baking tray with Nonstick Cooking Spray (as needed) .

In a large bowl toss together the Raw Almonds (1 cup) , Raw Cashews (1 cup) , Pecan Halves (1 cup) , and Raw Peanuts (1 cup) .

In a medium bowl whisk together Maple Syrup (1/3 cup) , Brown Sugar (4 Tbsp) , Large Egg White (1) , Water (1 Tbsp) , Chinese Five Spice Powder (1 Tbsp) , and Sea Salt (1/2 tsp) . Pour the syrup mixture over the nuts and stir to coat evenly.

Spread nuts evenly on a large baking tray.

Bake for 60 minutes, turning every 15 minutes. If using Dried Cherries (3/4 cup) , stir them in halfway through the baking time.

Remove from oven and loosen from the baking tray. Allow the nuts to cool completely before breaking apart.

Makes 5 cups.

Mixed nuts can be kept in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
