Cooking Instructions
1.
Melt Butter (3 Tbsp) in a deep saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, add in Pumpkin Pie Spice (1 tsp) and stir until fragrant.
2.
Add Marshmallows (10 oz) and stir.
3.
Optional: When marshmallows start to melt, add in 3-4 drops of Orange Food Coloring (to taste) or coloring of choice. Stir until marshmallows have melted completely.
4.
Once marshmallows have melted remove the pot from heat and pour in Rice Krispies® Cereal (6 cups) and gently stir and fold with a spatula until evenly coated. Let the mixture cool slightly.
5.
Spray clean hands with Nonstick Cooking Spray (as needed) and shape rice mixture into balls about the size of a tennis ball. Transfer to a greased, parchment-lined tray.
6.
Roll a Tootsie Roll Candy (to taste) slightly. Stick it to the top center and reshape the pumpkin as needed.
7.
Shape your leaves: Using a Green Airhead Candy (to taste) cut out a leaf shape with clean scissors. Stick onto the treats next to the stem.
8.
Use the remaining portion of the airheads or green taffy to roll and shape into a thin rope to act as the vine.
9.
If making a jack-o-lantern, use a rolling pin to roll Candy (to taste) into a thin sheet. Cut out jack-o-lanterns eyes.
10.
Cut out the mouth.
11.
Place candy shapes on pumpkins and store finished rice krispie creations in an airtight container.
Author's Notes
To make a Frankenstein treat: Follow the recipe until step 2 then instead of orange color your marshmallow with 2-4 drops of green food coloring. Once colored, pour in the cereal and mix to combine. In a parchment-lined and greased tray press the mixture into a rectangle. Cut the treats into smaller rectangles. To decorate cut a tootsie roll in half and place them at the bottom of the treat to act as bolts. To make the eyes use more tootsie rolls - roll into small balls and place where the eyes should be. Using the tootsie rolls as glue, place on the M&M’s on top. Place tootsie roll pupils on the M&M’s. Use tootsie rolls to make stitches and place them where his mouth should go.
