Grapefruit

Grapefruits are a perfectly puckery member of the citrus family and received their name because they grow in clusters, like enormous grapes! This fruit was discovered accidentally in Barbados when a crosshybrid of a sweet orange and a pomelo were introduced.

Grapefruit adds bold, distinctive flavor to recipes.

How to store Grapefruit?

Eat fresh grapefruit within two weeks of purchasing.

To store grapefruits long term, peel them and remove as much of the pith (the white parts) as possible, then put into freezer bags and freeze for up to one month.

What to make with leftover Grapefruit?

Rubbing grapefruit over the dark patches on your knees and elbows can help fade the spots by reducing excess production of skin pigment.

Use grapefruit peels in your cleaning routine! Dip the postjuiced grapefruit half in a plate of sea salt, then rub the grapefruit all over your bathroom fixtures. The citric acid in the fruit dissolves dirt and grime and the salt scrubs and disinfects. Rinse well with water after scrubbing.
