Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
Step 2
In a standing mixer, combine
Butter (120 g)
,
Brown Sugar (55 g)
,
Granulated Sugar (65 g)
,
Vanilla Extract (5 mL)
, and
Almond Extract (5 mL)
. Add in the
Egg (1)
and mix just until combined.
Step 3
Stop the mixer and add in the
All-Purpose Flour (250 g)
,
Baking Soda (5 g)
, and
Salt (5 g)
. Turn the mixer on slow and slowly drizzle in the
Buttermilk (240 mL)
.
Step 4
The batter will be thick. Place in a piping bag and cut a dime-sized hole for the opening. Spray two mini donut pans with cooking spray and pipe in the batter until 3/4 full.
Step 5
Bake in the oven for 7-8 minutes. Let cool in the pans for 5 minutes before turning out onto a cooling rack. Let cool completely.
Step 6
Mix the
Powdered Confectioners Sugar (275 g)
,
Butter (60 g)
,
Heavy Cream (60 mL)
,
Almond Extract (2 mL)
, and
Food Coloring (to taste)
together and heat in a microwave oven in 30-second increments until it’s consistency is good enough for drizzling.
Step 7
Dip the donuts into the frosting and place sprinkles on immediately. Mix the frosting in between each donut. You will need to re-heat the frosting as needed every few minutes.
Step 8
Serve once the frosting on all the donuts has set.
