Step 1
Heat some
Olive Oil (30 mL)
in a deep pan.
Step 2
Toss in the
Onion (1/2)
and sautee till it turns soft and translucent.
Step 3
Add the
Garlic (3 cloves)
and sautee it with the onions for a couple minutes.
Step 4
Add the finely diced
Carrots (2)
, finely diced
Celery (2 stalks)
and
Frozen Green Peas (80 g)
to the pan and mix together.
Step 5
Add the
Ground Beef (455 g)
and let it brown on medium-high heat along with all the veggies.
Step 6
Once the meat is browned season the meat well with
Salt (to taste)
and
Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
,
Italian Seasoning (1 g)
and
Worcestershire Sauce (15 mL)
. Stir well.
Step 7
Then pour in
Tomato Sauce (240 g)
mix well and bring to a boil. Then put a lid on, lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes. Just before you turn off the heat, stir in some finely chopped
Fresh Parsley (1 handful)
.
Step 8
Peel, cut and boil
Potatoes (4)
in well-salted water. Then drain them and toss them in a mixing bowl.
Step 9
Add the
Butter (45 g)
,
Heavy Cream (160 mL)
to them while still hot and mash them with a potato masher. Season it with
Salt (to taste)
and
Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
.
Step 10
Spoon the ground beef mix in the bottom of a casserole dish, or small oven proof individual serving dishes.
Step 11
You can then spoon or pipe the mashed potatoes over the top. If you spoon it, flatten it a little over the top and with a fork make some lines on top.
Step 12
Lightly brush a little
Egg (1)
wash on the ridges of the mashed potatoes.
Step 13
Pop it into the oven at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for around 10 to 15 minutes. Then stick them under the broiler for another 4 to 5 minutes until the mashed potato topping forms a nice golden brown crust.
Step 14
Garnish with a sprig of fresh parsley. Enjoy!
