Step 1
Into a mixing bowl, add All-Purpose Flour (185 g) , Active Dry Yeast (3 g) , Salt (1 pinch) , and Water (60 mL) . Mix with a fork until mixture begins to come together into a dough, then switch to using your hands. Knead for 15 minutes.
Step 2
Transfer dough to a clean bowl and cover with a towel. Let it rise for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Into a mixing bowl, add Ground Beef (225 g) and Egg (1) . Mix well.
Step 4
Add Soy Sauce (5 mL) , Onion (1) , Dried Chives (3 g) , Dried Parsley (as needed) , Ground Black Pepper (2 g) , Granulated Sugar (30 g) , and Garlic (8 g) . Mix well.
Step 5
Press the air out of the dough and knead it a few times. Roll it into an 8-inch log, then split it in half. Cut each half into several pieces, depending on the size you want your baozis to be.
Step 6
On a floured surface, roll each piece out into a 3-inch circle.
Step 7
Into each circle of dough, add about 1 1/2 tablespoons of filling. Crimp the edges and pinch them together, going all the way around. Pinch the top to close, then twist it and press down lightly.
Step 8
Into a pan, heat Vegetable Oil (30 mL) . In batches, add the baozi. Pour over Water (60 mL) , then cover and cook on medium heat for 20 minutes.
Step 9
Turn off the heat and let baozi sit for 3 minutes.
Step 10
Flip baozi out onto a plate and serve. Careful, the filling might be hot if you serve them right away!
