1. What information does the Application obtain?
Users may register with an email address or through their Facebook account. Registration is optional and users may access the Application as a guest. However, please keep in mind that guests may not be able to use some of the features offered by the Application unless you register with us.
Registration By Email:
When you register to use the Application via your email address, you will be asked to provide your email address, user name and password.
Registration By Facebook:
When you register to use the Application via Facebook, you will be asked permission for Facebook to share your public profile, friend list, email address, birthday and current city with SideChef. Users should review Facebook’s Data Policy for more information about Facebook’s data collection practices.
Creating a Profile:
When you create a SideChef Profile, you can add photos, post recipes, post blogs, follow other users and invite followers, and receive notifications relating to your preferences, including, but not limited to, following lists, recipe updates and recommendations, and user communications. Users can modify push notification preferences within the Application via Settings.
Participating in SideChef Promotions or Contests:
SideChef offers its users the ability to participate in various promotions and contests offered on the Site and App from time to time. In electing to participate, users will be required to provide certain personal information, such as first and last name and email address to enable SideChef to track entrants and notify winners. All Promotions or Contests are limited to persons 18 years of age and older (on behalf of themselves or as the parent or legal guardian of entries submitted on behalf of minors).
Mobile Device Information Automatically Collected:
The Application may also collect certain mobile device information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile devices unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browsers you use, and information about the way you use the Application. This Application does not collect precise information about the location of your mobile device.
SideChef utilizes Flurry by Yahoo! Analytics to track user events on our App. Flurry utilizes a tracking pixel, agent or any other visitor identification technology to collect, use, share and store anonymous, aggregate data about end users activities on our App. For more information on Flurry’s privacy practices, users should review Flurry by Yahoo! Privacy Practices. If you do not wish to have information about your activities used by Yahoo as stated above, you can opt-out here.
SideChef utilizes cookie technology to gather information on Internet use in order to serve you more effectively. Usage of cookies is in no way linked to personally identifiable information. You can set your browser to remove or reject cookies; however some Site features or Services may not work properly without cookies.
2. How is collected information used and stored?
SideChef will also utilize your email to communicate featured recipes, services and promotions offered by the Application. You can unsubscribe via the opt-out link within the email or by emailing SideChef at email@example.com
3. Is Information Collected by or Disclosed to Third Parties by using the Application?
SideChef Content Partners:
SideChef enables food bloggers, companies and individuals (“Content Partners”) to share quality recipes and cooking techniques with its users. Content Partners may insert their own website links to their profile. SideChef does not control the data collection or privacy practices of Content Partners, and users are encouraged to review the privacy policies of their websites for a better understanding of their practices.
Users may follow SideChef on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Google+, Pinterest, Linkedin, Snapchat and Periscope. Users should click on the hyperlinks for each site to review the applicable privacy policies for more detail about information collected from these sites.
Other Potential Third Party Disclosures:
Information may also be disclosed to third parties (1) as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process; (2) when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request, or (3) if SideChef is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets.
4. How Does SideChef Comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act?
We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 without parental consent. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.
5. What are my opt-out rights?
You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling the Application. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network. You can also request to opt-out via email, at email@example.com.
6. How long does SideChef retain information collected?
User Input Data:
SideChef will retain data provided by users for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you’d like us to delete User Provided Data that you have provided via the Application, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will respond in a reasonable time. Please note a User Profile is necessary to access many features offered on the App.
Automatically Collected Data:
SideChef will retain automatically collected information, such as anonymous data collected for analytics purposes, for up to 24 months and thereafter may store it in aggregate.
7. What is SideChef’s Security Policy?
We have implemented reasonable administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, destruction or alteration. For example, we limit access to this information to authorized employees and contractors who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our Application. However, although we endeavor to provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can ever by 100% secure.
8. How Does SideChef Respond to “Do Not Track” Signals?
“Do Not Track” is a feature enabled on some browsers that sends a signal to request that a web application disable its tracking or cross-site user tracking. At present, SideChef does not respond to or alter its practices when a Do Not Track signal is received.
