Step 1
Caramelize
Onions (2)
in a pan wit with oil and some butter over medium heat and put it aside to cool.
Step 2
Soften the
Butter (1/4 cup)
in the microwave on low for 20 seconds until it is spreadable and warm to the touch.
Step 3
Add the
Garlic (2 cloves)
into the warm butter and mix it together. Put it aside.
Step 4
Preheat a pan to medium heat.
Step 5
Spread the butter on the outsides of the
Ciabatta Bread (2)
avoiding putting the garlic bits on.
Step 6
Spread the butter on the insides of the bun.
Step 7
Sprinkle on
Smoked Cheddar Cheese (2 cups)
on the first layer.
Step 8
Lay out the
Ham Slices (2)
in a single layer on the second layer.
Step 9
Add the caramelized onions on the third layer.
Step 10
Sprinkle on cheese for the fourth layer.
Step 11
Drizzle
Maple Syrup (2 Tbsp)
over the cheese.
Step 12
Add the bread as the last layer and set it in the pan to crisp up.
Step 13
Toast the sandwich for approximately 2 minutes a side. Make sure to check it on the 1 minute mark to make sure its not burning. If it looks brown and crisp, flip it over to the other side.
Step 14
Enjoy while cheese is gooey and the sandwich is warm.
