Cooking Instructions
1.
Cook the
Ravioli (1 cup)
as per instructions on the packet with
Water (as needed)
. Strain the water and allow the ravioli to cool down. You can spread them on a plate for them to cool down and prevent them from sticking to one another.
2.
Now prepare the breadcrumbs mixture. Add
Breadcrumbs (1 cup)
to a bowl. In that add
Garlic Powder (1 Tbsp)
,
Onion Powder (1 Tbsp)
,
Dried Mixed Herbs (1 Tbsp)
,
Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (1 Tbsp)
, and
Vegan Parmesan Cheese (1/4 cup)
. Mix it all together and keep it aside for now.
3.
Heat the
Frying Oil (as needed)
.
4.
Add
Almond Milk (1 cup)
to a bowl and allow it to come to room temperature or you can warm it up for 45 seconds in a microwave.
5.
Dip each ravioli in milk and then roll it in prepared breadcrumbs mixture. Repeat this with every ravioli and place them on a tray. Once that is done, its time to fry the ravioli.
6.
Begin frying them in oil. Fry evenly on both sides till they turn golden. Be careful to not burn it or fry them in very hot oil. Using a slotted spoon, transfer ravioli to a paper towel-lined plate.
7.
These vegan Italian fried ravioli can be a meal in itself. They are best enjoyed when served hot with some spicy vegan mayo, Sriracha mixed with vegan mayo, regular tomato ketchup, or marinara sauce on the side.
Author's Notes
If your frozen ravioli are stuck together, allow them to thaw in the refrigerator. Then you should be able to carefully separate them. But you do not need to thaw frozen ravioli. You can cook them right away as per instructions on the packet.
I prefer using store-bought breadcrumbs as its dry and coat well in comparison to the homemade ones that are softer. Also, you can customize the crumbs mixture as per your liking. Add additional seasonings like amchur powder, chaat masala, oregano, dried parsley, etc for more flavor. If you have leftover breadcrumb mixture, you can save it in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator, and use it for future vegan Italian ravioli endeavors.
While the fried version is a delicious indulgent option, you can also make toasted cheese ravioli, Olive Garden style in the oven, or in an Air Fryer.
To make it in the Air Fryer, set the air fryer to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C). Place the breadcrumbs coated ravioli in the tray and spray cooking oil over it. Then Air Fry them for 6 minutes. Carefully flip each ravioli over. Air Fry for another 2 minutes.
To make it in the oven, bake the breaded ravioli in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) until golden brown and crispy, 15 to 25 minutes.
