Make these delicious apple pies when you’re missing the taste of your favorite fast food dessert: the ever-present and decade-spanning McDonald's classic apple pie. These little pockets of cinnamon-apple goodness are technically called hand pies, but when something is this delicious, who wants to argue about names?

Cooking Instructions
1.
Peel and finely dice the
Green Apples (3)
.
2.
Sprinkle the apples with
Corn Starch (1 Tbsp)
and toss until cornstarch is gone.
3.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the
Butter (1/4 cup)
. Add the apples,
Granulated Sugar (1/3 cup)
,
Brown Sugar (1/3 cup)
,
Lemon Juice (1 Tbsp)
,
Ground Cinnamon (1 tsp)
, and
Salt (1/4 tsp)
. Stir to combine.
4.
Add a couple of pinches of
Ground Nutmeg (2 pinches)
. Stir to combine.
5.
Cook down, stirring, until apples are soft and the filling is thickened, around 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
6.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
7.
Make cinnamon sugar sprinkle by combining
Granulated Sugar (1 Tbsp)
,
Ground Cinnamon (1 Tbsp)
, and
Salt (1 pinch)
in another small bowl.
8.
Lay the
Puff Pastry (2 sheets)
out on a piece of parchment paper and cut into 6 even pieces. Cut diagonal slits into half the pieces - these are the tops.
9.
Brush the edges of the bottom pieces with
Egg (1)
and add 2-3 Tbsp of cooled apple filling to each.
10.
Add the top piece and press along the sides with a fork to seal, then place your pies in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. This will help the pies to keep their nice, rounded shape.
11.
Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
12.
Let cool and serve.
