Homemade Strawberry Jam

Making homemade Strawberry Jam doesn't need to be difficult or time-consuming. Only 4 ingredients are needed for this easy-to-make jam that's certainly much better than anything storebought. Spread it over warm toast, spoon on to scones with a dollop of cream, use to sandwich cakes together, or get fancy and use in cocktails to add depth and flavor.

Chopped Fresh Strawberries

or Frozen Strawberries

1/2 cup

Granulated Sugar

Lemon , juiced

Cooking Instructions

Combine the Fresh Strawberries (5 cups) , Granulated Sugar (1/2 cup) , juice from Lemon (1) , Salt (1 pinch) in a medium pot.

Using a potato masher or large fork, roughly mash the fruit.

Cook the fruit over a medium heat, allowing it to come to a boil but stirring constantly until the fruit thickens. This should take around 20 minutes.

Begin testing to see if the jam is done by placing a small amount of jam on a cold spoon, waiting a few seconds for it to cool and then running your finger through the jam to see if it leaves a clear track. If it does, then the jam is done, if not, continue cooking until done.

Carefully pour the strawberry jam into a clean jar, cool, seal, and refrigerate. When it's completely cool and set, serve and enjoy!

Author's Notes

Feel free to replace the strawberries with any other member of the berry family, or combine for a mixed berry jam.
