This is a recipe for a custard-y, yummy bread pudding that my great grandma often made. I grew up having this bread pudding, so it is a nice comfort food for me.

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Cube the Bread (2 cup). Make sure to compress it, so there is just a little more than the suggested amount. In a small bowl, lightly beat the Egg (4). Heat Milk (2 cup) to scalding in a pan on the stove top.
Step 2
Put 2 cups of water into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Grease an 8 x 8 inch pan with cooking spray. Add bread to the milk. Stir, and let bread soak for a few minutes.
Step 3
Add Granulated Sugar (1/2 cup), Butter (1 tablespoon), Salt (1/4 teaspoon), and Vanilla Extract (1 teaspoon). Mix well. Let cool a bit, and add the eggs. Stir to combine.
Step 4
Pour mixture into the 8 x 8 inch pan, and bake for 1 hour.
Step 5
Remove from oven, slice, and enjoy!
