Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
Step 2
Season the
Cowboy Steak (3 lb)
with
Salt (to taste)
and
Freshly Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
. Sear oven-safe skillet with a mix of
Butter (to taste)
and
Olive Oil (as needed)
. The butter gives the flavor, and the olive oil raises the smoke point of the butter so it doesn't burn.
Step 3
Mix
Merlot (1 cup)
,
Beef Broth (1 cup)
,
Worcestershire Sauce (1 cup)
,
Granulated Garlic (1 Tbsp)
,
Granulated Onion (1 Tbsp)
,
Dried Oregano (1 Tbsp)
,
Dried Basil (1 Tbsp)
and
Montreal Steak Seasoning (2 Tbsp)
for braising.
Step 4
Pour mixture over meat then add veggies.
Step 5
Cover skillet and bake in the preheated oven for 2 1/2 hours.
Step 6
Let the steak rest 15 minutes before serving.
