Step 1
In a large bowl add
Ground Pork (1 lb)

Honey (1 Tbsp)
,
Light Soy Sauce (1 1/2 Tbsp)
,
Shaoxing Cooking Wine (1/2 Tbsp)
,
Brown Sugar (2 Tbsp)
,
Corn Starch (1 1/2 Tbsp)
,
Chinese Five Spice Powder (1 tsp)
,
Salt (1/2 tsp)
,
Garlic (3 cloves)
, and
Fresh Cilantro Leaves (5)
. Mix well and allow to marinate for 15 minutes.
Step 2
Divide the ground pork mixture into preferred equal parts and shape them into patties.
Step 3
Heat
Cooking Oil (2 Tbsp)
over medium heat in a cast-iron skillet. Sear the burger patties for 2–3 minutes.
Step 4
Flip them over and sear for another 2-3 minutes. Remove the burger patties from the skillet and set them aside.
Step 5
In a small saucepan, prepare the sauce by combining
Honey (2 Tbsp)
,
Light Soy Sauce (2 Tbsp)
,
Dark Soy Sauce (1 tsp)
,
Brown Sugar (2 Tbsp)
, and
Chinese Five Spice Powder (1/4 tsp)
. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
Step 6
Mix
Corn Starch (1 tsp)
with
Water (2 Tbsp)
in a small bowl. Stir well till this mixture is smooth. When the sauce starts to boil, pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan. Keep string until the sauce thickens, then set aside.
Step 7
Assemble the burger in this sequence: place the burger patty on the bottom of each
Hamburger Buns (4)
, smear the sauce over the patty, top with
Carrots (1/2 cup)
,
Fresh Cilantro Leaves (1/2 cup)
, and
Lettuce Leaves (as needed)
, last top with the burger bun.
Step 8
Serve your Char Siu burgers with your favorite side dishes.
