Cut a small portion of the bottom of each Pears (6) off so they can sit upright. Peel the skin from each, then set aside.

Set a large pot over medium heat and add the Red Wine (1 bottle), Water (2 cups), Whole Cloves (3), Cinnamon Sticks (2), and Brown Sugar (1/2 cup). Split the Vanilla Bean Pod (1) down the middle, scrape the seeds into the pot, then throw the whole bean in as well.
