Step 1
Beat the
Dahi (1 cup)
with
Water (1/2 cup)
and then add the
Semolina (1 1/2 cups)
and
Salt (to taste)
to make batter of dropping consistency.
Step 2
Cover and keep aside for 4 hours to ferment.
Step 3
Then, add the
Tomatoes (2 Tbsp)
,
Onions (2 Tbsp)
, and
Green Chili Pepper (1)
to the fermented batter.
Step 4
Heat the appe mould on a medium flame and grease it with a little
Oil (1 Tbsp)
.
Step 5
Take a kadai or pan, heat
Oil (1 Tbsp)
and add
Mustard Seeds (1 tsp)
, splutter it & add
Curry Leaves (7)
,
Fresh Cilantro (1 Tbsp)
and switch off the flame.
Step 6
Now add this tadka into the batter. Mix well. At this time add
Baking Soda (1 pinch)
into batter.
Step 7
Pour a spoonful of the batter into each mould.
Step 8
Cook till the outer surface becomes golden brown and then turn each appe upside down using a fork so as to cook the other side.
Step 9
Remove and repeat with the remaining batter.
Step 10
Serve hot with chutney or tomato sauce.
