Mussels in a Spicy Garlic White Wine Tomato Sauce

Recipe
Get ready to flex your inner chef with this saucy, spicy, and oh-so-slurpable mussel dish! Fresh mussels take a luxurious dip in a garlicky white wine tomato broth with just the right kick of heat—because, let’s be honest, life’s too short for bland seafood. Toss in some crusty bread for dunking, and you’ve got a dish that’s fancy enough for date night but easy enough for a weeknight dinner. Bonus: It comes together in under 30 minutes, so you’ll be feasting before your wine glass is even half-empty.

We’ve put our own spin on this recipe! While the original is no longer available, our new version keeps the flavors just as amazing—enjoy!

step 1
In a large pot or deep skillet, heat Olive Oil (2 Tbsp) over medium heat. Add Garlic (4 cloves), Shallot (1), and Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (1 tsp). Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
step 2
Pour in the Dry White Wine (1 cup), scraping up any bits from the pan. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
step 3
Then stir in the Canned Diced Tomatoes (1 can), Tomato Paste (2 Tbsp), Vegetable Broth (1/2 cup), Dried Oregano (1 tsp), Smoked Paprika (1/2 tsp), Salt (to taste), and Ground Black Pepper (to taste). Simmer for another 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
step 4
Add the Fresh Mussels (2 lb) to the pot, cover, and cook for 5-7 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally, until the mussels open. Discard any mussels that do not open.
step 5
Stir in Butter (2 Tbsp), Fresh Parsley (4 Tbsp), and a Juice of a Lemon (1/2) for brightness.
step 6
Ladle the mussels and sauce into bowls and serve with crusty Bread (as needed) to soak up all that spicy, garlicky goodness.
