Cooking InstructionsHide images
step 1
Start by slicing the Red Chili Pepper (1). Yellow Bell Pepper (1), Cubanelle Pepper (1) and Green Bell Pepper (1).
step 2
Thinly slice the Sweet Onions (2).
step 3
In a pan over high heat, add the Olive Oil (1/4 cup). Once the oil begins to shimmer add all the peppers into the pan. Stir and cook for 5-6 minutes.
step 4
Once the peppers have started to cook down, lower the heat and add the sliced onions. Continue to cook for 6-7 minutes over medium-high heat.
step 5
Slice the Mild Italian Sausages (6) into 1/2 inch pieces.
step 6
Move the peppers and onions to the side and add the sausage pieces into the pan. As you lay them down cover them with the peppers and onions- we want to get a nice sear on the sausage pieces.
step 7
Next add the Balsamic Vinegar (1/4 cup) and mix together. Proceed to add the Granulated Sugar (1/4 cup) to help cut the acidity from the tomatoes. If there is too much fat/oil in the pan, feel free to spoon it out. Following that add the Canned Crushed Tomatoes (1 3/4 cups) and Tomato Paste (1 Tbsp) and mix together.
step 8
Add the Fresh Basil (1/4 cup) Dried Oregano (1/2 tsp), and Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (1/4 tsp). Mix together, lower the heat to low and place the lid on. Continue to cook with the lid on for 10 minutes.
step 9
Before serving season with Salt (1/2 tsp) and Freshly Ground Black Pepper (1/4 tsp). Stir together and serve with your choice of pasta if desired. Enjoy!
