Preheat oven 350 degrees F (176 degrees C).
Into the bowl of a stand mixer, add
Granulated Sugar (1 3/4 cups)
Butter (1 stick)
Margarine (1 stick)
. Mix until smooth, about 4-5 minutes.
one at a time. Continue to mix until well combined.
Vanilla Extract (1 tsp)
Into a mixing bowl, sift together
All-Purpose Flour (2 cups)
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (3/4 cup)
Salt (1/2 tsp)
Baking Soda (1 tsp)
Baking Powder (1 tsp)
Add half of the dry ingredients into the stand mixer. Mix until just combined. Add the
Milk (1 1/3 cups)
and mix until just combined. Add the remaining dry ingredients and mix until batter is smooth.
Transfer batter into two greased and floured 7x11-inch cake pans.
Bake for 25-35 minutes.
Allow cakes to cool in their pans for 10 minutes.
Flip cakes out onto a wire rack and allow them to cool completely.
Chocolate Frosting (to taste)
to decorate as desired. Make sure the cake is completely cool before frosting or the frosting will melt!
