Homemade English Muffins

Homemade English Muffins are a delicious baked item, perfect for breakfast. Soft dough is dusted with corn meal and baked until golden. Split in half and toasted, these muffins are gorgeous buttered with your favourite jam - give it a go!

or Polenta

Cooking Instructions

Into a large mixing bowl, add the Water (2 cups) and Instant Dry Yeast (2 tsp) , and give the mix a gentle stir. Add the Butter (6 1/4 cups) , Granulated Sugar (1 Tbsp) and Salt (1 Tbsp) and mix everything together.

Add the All-Purpose Flour (6 cups) to the bowl, and stir it through until a nice paste forms. Then add the remaining flour while mixing the dough.

On an even surface, roll the dough out until it is half a centimeter thick.

Using any circular object(like a glass), cut circular pieces out from the dough

Transfer the muffins into baking trays, and sprinkle over with some Cornmeal (to taste) . Cover the trays with a clean kitchen towel for about half an hour to allow the muffins to rise.

When the time is almost up, preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Bake the muffins inside a preheated oven for about 15 minutes

Leave the muffins on the tray for about five minutes, and transfer them to another dish or plate until they are completely cooled.
