Classic mulled wine recipe spiced up with ginger and cinnamon to give you a warm mug on a cold day. This simple mulled wine recipe will warm you up through winter and help you survive the holidays. Spike it up with some extra brandy, rum, or cognac, and enjoy responsibly.

or Rum or Liqueur of choice
Red Wine (3 cups)
Honey (3 Tbsp)
Ginger Paste (1 Tbsp)
Cinnamon Sticks (2)
Whole Cloves (6)
Star Anise (1 piece)
to a heavy-bottomed pot or saucepan. Stir to combine and heat over medium-high until steaming, do not let it bubble.
Lower heat to medium and heat for 20 minutes. You can keep it here for up to 3 hours, but keep the heat low to avoid boiling the mixture. Mash the oranges lightly with a wooden spoon to release their juice.
Ladle into heatproof mugs and top each mug with 1-2 Tbsp of
Brandy (6 splashes)
Garnish with a cinnamon stick, a piece of star anise, and an
