Author's Notes

Make sure to use DARK brown sugar, as opposed to light brown sugar. Dark brown sugar provides a lovely color to these finished cookies and a lovely caramel-y flavor you just don’t get when using light brown.

Makes 16-20 cookies.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

Combine Dark Brown Sugar (1/2 cup), Granulated Sugar (1/4 cup), and Unsalted Butter (1/2 cup) in the bowl of a standing mixer or other medium mixing bowl.

Mix in Salt (1/2 tsp), Baking Soda (3/4 tsp), and Vanilla Extract (1/2 tsp). Add the sifted All-Purpose Flour (1 1/4 cups) and mix just until combined. Mix in Milk Chocolate Chips (1 cup).

Drop heaping tablespoons of cookie dough onto a cookie sheet, about two inches apart. Bake on a center rack for 10-11 minutes until cookies begin to brown around the edges.
