Author's Notes

You can easily prepare this a day or two early and add the finishing touches on the BBQ while the family gathers together.

If you don’t have access to a barbecue, you can also make this in the oven. It just won’t have the smokiness.

In a medium bowl or the bowl of your stand mixer, whisk together Vital Wheat Gluten (1 1/2 cups), Nutritional Yeast (1/4 cup), McCormick® Garlic Powder (1/2 Tbsp), Paprika (1 tsp), Onion Powder (1/2 Tbsp), and Beetroot Powder (1/2 tsp). Set aside.

In a blender, blend together, Vegetable Bouillon Cubes (2), Pineapple Juice (1 cup), Firm Tofu (1/2 cup), Liquid Smoke (1/2 tsp), {@12:}, Ketchup (3 Tbsp), Maple Syrup (2 Tbsp), {@11:}, {@10:}, Ground Cloves (1/4 tsp), Ground Black Pepper (1 pinch), Pineapple Rings (4), and Whole Cloves (as needed) until smooth.
