Chai-Spiced Pear Applesauce in Jar While applesauce is easy on the stovetop, it's even easier in a slow cooker. And in a slow cooker, you get the bonus of having a kitchen that smells like apple pie for several hours.

1/8 cup Water
1/8 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/8 teaspoon Ground Ginger
to taste Honey

STEP 1
Core the Asian Pear (4) and Apple (4), and chop into quarter inch pieces. Place fruit in a heavy bottom pot, and turn the stove burner to low.
STEP 2
Mix Lemon Juice (1/8 cup), Water (1/8 cup), and Honey (to taste). Add liquid mixture, Cayenne Pepper (1/8 teaspoon), and Ground Ginger (1/8 teaspoon) to the pot. Cover, and let simmer over low heat for about 45 minutes, or until fruit is soft.
STEP 3
Transfer to a blender for a smoother sauce. Adjust seasonings, and chill.

Apple sauce is great cause you can even use it in desserts as an egg substitute. I used this recipe on some baked fish and it worked great.

Extremely simple and delicious! If you don't have a blender, chopping the apples and pears into smaller pieces works well too -- and makes for a nice, slightly chunky applesauce :)
