Canned Pinto Beans
1/4 cup
Corn Oil
1/2 Tbsp
Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp
to taste
Shredded Cheese

Step 1
Pour Canned Pinto Beans (3 cups) out onto a flat surface, and sort through, removing rocks and irregular beans.
Step 2
Put pinto beans into a large saucepan, and wash with cold water. Swirl beans in water with your hands, and remove any beans that float. Drain and refill with water to a volume double that of the beans.
Step 3
Place pot on stovetop, and cover. Bring to a boil over high heat. Turn down heat, and boil for 2 hours. Check periodically, and add water if necessary.
Step 4
Taste beans, and add Sea Salt (1 Tbsp) and Garlic Powder (1/2 Tbsp) as needed. Stir until combined. Add Corn Oil (1/4 cup) and mix. Let simmer, uncovered, for 1 and a half hours, stirring occasionally.
Step 5
Turn off heat, and mash beans using a potato masher to desired consistency.
Step 6
Serve and top with your choice of Shredded Cheese (to taste) and enjoy!
