step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Spray a 9-inch cake pan with Nonstick Cooking Spray (as needed).
step 2
In a large bowl, mix All-Purpose Flour (2 cups), Baking Powder (1/2 Tbsp), Baking Soda (3/4 tsp), Salt (1 tsp), Granulated Sugar (3 Tbsp), and Caraway Seeds (1/2 Tbsp).
step 3
Cut in Butter (3 Tbsp) using a pastry blender or fork, until mixture is the texture of coarse cornmeal.
step 4
Add Buttermilk (1 cup) and Raisins (2/3 cup).
step 5
Mix lightly until a soft dough forms. Turn dough out on lightly floured surface. Knead gently, only a few times. Shape dough into a round.
step 6
Fit evenly into the sprayed 9-inch cake pan. Cut dough into quarters, using a knife, cutting about 2/3 of the way through the dough. Brush top surface of dough with melted Butter (2 Tbsp)
step 7
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, or until edges are brown and crusty and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let bread rest in the pan on a cooling rack for 5 minutes.
step 8
Transfer bread to a serving plate. To serve, cut Soda Bread into wedges and spread with butter. Enjoy!
