Step 1
In the bowl of your mixer, whisk together the
All-Purpose Flour (4 cups)
and
Salt (1 tsp)

Step 2
Fit the mixer with the dough hook attachment. Add the
Water (1 1/4 cups)
and the
Vegetable Oil (1 Tbsp)
and knead until the mixture becomes a smooth, elastic dough.
Step 3
Form the dough into a ball. Place it back in the mixing bowl. Cover with a dish cloth and let rest for 45 minutes.
Step 4
Place the
Ground Beef (1 lb)
,
Sweet Onion (1)
, and
Pickles (1/2 cup)
in a bowl and mix to combine.
Step 5
Add the
Egg (1)
,
Ketchup (3 Tbsp)
,
Worcestershire Sauce (1 Tbsp)
,
Garlic Powder (1/2 tsp)
,
Salt (to taste)
, and
Freshly Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
and mix again.
Step 6
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease a large casserole dish with vegetable oil and set aside.
Step 7
Halve the dough. Roll one-half of the dough out onto a floured work surface into a rectangle. Spread the meat mixture on top of the dough, followed by the
Shredded Cheddar Cheese (1/2 cup)
.
Step 8
Roll the dough up from the long side into a log. Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 2-inch rolls. Place the rolls, swirls sides up into the prepared greased baking dish.
Step 9
Repeat with the other half of the dough,
Shredded Cheddar Cheese (1/2 cup)
, and meat mixture.
Step 10
Sprinkle remaining
Shredded Cheddar Cheese (1/2 cup)
over the top of the rolls, then place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
Step 11
Remove from oven and lightly spritz water over the tops of the rollups. Cover with a clean dishtowel and let stand for 5 minutes. Uncover and serve with ketchup on the side.
