Asian-Style Sloppy Joes

I’m fine with regular old American sloppy Joe's, but the flavors in these were like …. lettuce wraps with crunchy toppings and deep spicy flavor soaked up by a squishy bun. You can't miss with that sentence!

Ground Beef

Hoisin Sauce

1 Tbsp

Oyster Sauce

1 tsp

Sriracha

Soy Sauce

Hamburger Buns

1 cup

Thinly Sliced Lettuce

1 bunch

Scallions , thinly sliced

1 handful

Fresh Cilantro Leaves

Cooking Instructions

Heat a skillet to medium-high heat and add the Ground Beef (1 lb) . Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking up the meat up as it cooks until crumbly and browned.

After the meat begins to brown, add the Hoisin Sauce (1 Tbsp) , Oyster Sauce (1 Tbsp) , and Sriracha (1 tsp) .

Stir to combine. Then add Water (4 Tbsp) to form a sauce.

Taste the meat, and add Soy Sauce (1 tsp) . Add more teaspoons as desired. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and let the meat simmer for 5 to 10 minutes until the water is partially reduced and the meat is cooked through. If it gets too dry, add a little more water.

Broil the Hamburger Buns (4) on the cut side until lightly toasted.

To serve, pile some 2 Lettuce (1 cup) on the bun bottoms.

Add the meat, Fresh Cilantro Leaves (1 handful) , and Scallions (1 bunch) on top.

Add extra sriracha over the meat if you'd like. Top with a bun top, and enjoy!
