Step 1
Start by putting a small amount of
All-Purpose Flour (to taste)
on the board and spreading it out.
Step 2
Place the ball of
Pizza Dough (3.5 oz)
in the center and using the tips of your fingers, pass down and start opening it up into a circle. Turn it over and do it again making sure there is enough flour on both sides.
Step 3
Using the rolling pin rollover the dough one way and then the other.
Step 4
Add some flour on top and repeat.
Step 5
Create a layered line of
Buffalo Mozzarella Balls (to taste)
right through the middle.
Step 6
Roll up the slice of
Ham Slices (2)
and put it on top of the cheese. Add another piece rolled up too.
Step 7
Break up the
Fresh Basil Leaves (3)
and place them on top of the ham keeping the filling away from the edges.
Step 8
Rollover one half of the dough over the top of the filling to meet the other side and press the edges together with the balls of your fingers.
Step 9
Pull at the edges of the dough to help them meet then turn it over and spread some flour on top.
Step 10
Using a fork, press down around the edges of the calzone. Be careful not to make any holes but this will help it close so the oil doesn't get inside when you fry it.
Step 11
Turn it over and repeat.
Step 12
Put a fry pan on the stove and fill it 3/4 with
Sunflower Oil (as needed)
and heat it so it is ready.
Step 13
Drop the Calzone into the hot oil and it should bubble as it starts to cook.
Step 14
Use tongs to turn it over after 2 minutes.
Step 15
The Calzone will start to brown so you can tell it is cooking. The time will vary depending on the temperature of the oil.
Step 16
Using a utensil with holes in the bottom, lift at the Calzone and let the oil drain out. Place it onto a paper towel to remove excess oil. Pat the top of the Calzone with the paper towel to get rid of oil from the top. Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle
Dried Mixed Herbs (to taste)
on top if desired. Serve and enjoy!
