Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans are big on this classic bean recipe. Our ingredients vary a bit, but the end result is very similar. These gandules are usually served as a side along with white rice, with chicken, beef, or pork, or alone as a meat-free meal. Since I can remember, for family gatherings and holidays, this gandules recipe is a must.
This is a typical white rice recipe that always accompanies any kind of beans - especially in the Caribbean and Latin countries. At our home, we make big batches so we can have leftovers.
