Step 1
In a large bowl, mix together
Onion (1)
,
Panko Breadcrumbs (1/2 cup)
,
Milk (3 Tbsp)
,
Egg (1)
,
Fresh Parsley (2 Tbsp)
,
Grated Parmesan Cheese (1/4 cup)
,
Garlic (1 clove)
,
Salt (1 1/4 tsp)
, and
Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
. Use a fork to mix everything to combine.
Step 2
Add
Ground Beef (1 lb)
and use your hands and mix everything up until evenly incorporated.
Step 3
Form the meat mixture into about 20 meatballs by gently rolling each one between your hands.
Step 4
Coat a large saute pan with
Cooking Oil (2 Tbsp)
and bring to medium heat. Brown the meatballs for about 4 minutes on both sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 5
Make the sauce in the same pan. Remove any excess grease. Add
Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (3 Tbsp)
and let it get hot. Add
Yellow Onion (1)
and cook stirring occasionally for 3-5 minutes. Add
Garlic (3 cloves)
and cook for 30 seconds or so.
Step 6
Add
Crushed Tomatoes (4 cups)
, rinse the can with 1/2 cup of water, and add it to the pan. Stir and bring to a simmer.
Step 7
Add
Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (1/4 tsp)
,
Salt (1/2 tsp)
,
Granulated Sugar (1/2 tsp)
, and
Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
, and stir. Add the meatball. Cover and lower heat to low. Cook for 30-45 minutes
Step 8
Stir in
Fresh Basil Leaves (6)
, and add more seasonings if needed.
Step 9
Stir in the
Spaghetti (13 oz)
. Serve with parmesan cheese and garlic bread.
