In my previous life, I worked in the accounting field, budgeting, and auditing for about 10 years. A lot of left-brain work!
I tried working in an accounting firm, but soon realized I liked to be around people, even if I didn’t interact with them.
Organizing, planning and crunching numbers have always been a strength of mine but I always craved to do it in a more creative environment.
Working at SideChef has definitely afforded me the opportunity to satisfy that craving while still using the skills that I have developed over the years, making sure all the recipes on SideChef meet our golden standard.
When did my love of food begin? I always remembered loving to eat. Always. I had a keen sense of smell, so I always knew when something was going to taste good just from the smell of it.
I’m obsessed with cooking competition shows. If it exists, I’ve probably seen it. I’ll even watch the re-runs. I like to watch people cook, more than I like to cook myself. It’s like watching someone paint a picture. I like appreciating the skill of others, which definitely works with what I do here at SideChef.
Thankfully, I’ve always surrounded myself around people who really love to cook, and get joy from having people (like me) eat their food! Haha.
I joined SideChef almost 5 years ago where I've been on the Content Team, and now lead the team in managing our vast library of recipe content from content creators from all over the world. I've become their biggest fan as they share their recipes and join us in our mission to get more cooking.
It’s ironic that I even have this job. I was hoping to do something different, where I could learn new things, but also that had provided a creative outlet. Something that stands out about me the most amongst my friends and family is that I really love food and people. So looking at recipes, talking about food, celebrating its diversity and empowering people to cook is so amazing.
At SideChef, I’ve been exposed to more food niches and ethnic flavors than I ever have before. Also, understanding the vastness of the culinary world has also been extremely eye-opening. I always approached food as a consumer (literally), now I am learning to showcase food so that it is more appealing to the masses while bringing them together in this one space. I'm also excited to help innovate new experiences in guided cooking.
This question is SO hard. My favorite recipes are the ones in my cookbook, of course. They are quick and/or simple to execute. I adopted a gluten-free lifestyle 3 years ago and I discovered A Little Insanity's GF All-Purpose Flour, that I use for everything, especially pizza.
During the colder months, I love Summerland LA’s Corn Chowder with Heirloom Potatoes & Leeks. It looks complicated as a final dish but it’s super easy to make and the ingredients create a layering of flavor that I love.
But I honestly, fall in love with new recipes every day. Every one of our partners has a recipe I LOVE. And that's why it's on SideChef because I want more people to love it too!
We are working hard as we continue to build an all-in-one home cooking platform that provides over 15,000+ Smart Recipes with dynamic recipe content and guided cooking, integrated with some of the world's leading kitchen appliances.
