If you asked a New England native what's so special about their cuisine they’d ask you, “You tryna be SMAHT with me!?”

For New England, the Atlantic Ocean was a big food source as it touched every state in the region besides Vermont. This led to seafood becoming the focus of New England cuisine, even dating back to the time of the first settlements.

Cod, lobster and clam chowder have become staples of New England cuisine and have grown famous as a result.

Maine is known for their delicious lobster, and the entirety of the New England region is known for their creamy clam chowder. Cod became so famous and prevalent that they named Massachusetts' peninsula after it, Cape Cod. Seafood is a huge part of New England dishes, but doesn't overshadow the impact of beans and pies in the region.

Some of the best beans are named after perhaps New England's most famous city: Boston. Boston baked beans are stewed and sweetened beans often mixed with molasses or maple syrup. While this sweet delicacy is named after an American city, credit must be given to the Native Americans as they are the ones who taught the pilgrims how to make them.
