You are what you eat. We’ve heard it, and perhaps said it, time and time again, but being a picky eater is almost synonymous with being a kid. Sweet, gooey, delicious foods and snacks get all the love while the dreaded, tasteless brussels sprouts get the cold shoulder. Let’s face it, it’s hard to make broccoli as enticing as a chocolate-covered donut. We’ve come up with some of our favorite recipes that should help even the pickiest of eaters understand that vegetables are not just good for you, they can taste fantastic too.

These tips and tricks will help make mealtime fun for everyone.

Breakfast of Champions

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so make it count. Re-design classic breakfast foods by incorporating a vegetable or two. Combining whole wheat flour and carrots, Girl Eats Greens’ Carrot Cake Pancakes will keep your kids happy and satisfied.

The Bargaining Chip

Many kids love chips or foods with a great crunch. This can be used as an advantage to slip in some veggies. Try using vegetable as the base, like in 30 Pounds of Apple’s Crisp Zucchini Medallions or Live Eat Learn’s Gouda Cheese Crisps with Carrots.

Use Your Noodle

Pasta is an inexpensive and easy option. It can also be a simple way to fit in a few extra servings of veggies. Chop up vegetables into very small pieces and incorporate them into a hearty pasta sauce.

Just Beet It

Beets might not seem like a go-to vegetable for dessert, but this root vegetable has actually become quite a popular ingredient in desserts. Beets add moisture to baked goods as well as a natural sweetness. Earn some brownie points by baking My Moroccan Food’s Beetroot Chocolate Brownies. When you bake with beets, you're adding antioxidants and nutrients to each recipe without sacrificing taste or texture.

Muffin Top

Muffins are a great versatile food because they can be served for breakfast, lunch, or as a snack. Adding shredded vegetables into the batter is a simple way to add a healthy element to your muffins. Try out The Local Taste’s Zucchini Banana Muffins.

Pizza Face

Pizza is another favorite and throwing any topping on a pizza is a sure-fire hit. Check out Lemons and Basil’s Farmers Market Pizza on for inspiration.

Here at SideChef, we believe introducing new foods and flavors is all about presentation. Use these tips to help your kids love veggies just as much as you do.
