SideChef Predicts the Future: 2018 Food Trends

The new year's here and we welcome a new wave of food trends that are set to hit our plates this coming year. 2018 will bring diverse, healthy and a downright weird group of foods straight to our table. So we can finally wave goodbye to the glorified avocado and say hello to an exciting year of deliciousness.

Middle Eastern Mainstream

Moroccan Harira Soup

Jenessa's Dinners

The almighty hummus is here to stay and it’s bringing with it some vibrant and exotic Middle Eastern dishes. his trending cuisine will include some of our favorite ingredients such as chickpeas, eggplant, harissa, cardamon, halloumi, tahini... the list goes on. Oh and it’s healthy – because obviously 2018 is our year!

Let’s Have Some Shrooms

Creamy Mushroom Ragu

Simple. Tasty. Good.

No, things haven’t taken a weird turn at SideChef, not yet anyway! Around the world super foods are a continuing phenomenon and mushrooms are definitely attracting our attention.

Taco 'Bout Good Timing

Bulgogi Beef Korean Tacos

Hapa Nom Nom

As Taco Bell updates its 2018 menu, the Taco game just got a little stronger. The Taco is giving a ‘Mexican wave’ goodbye to the traditional tacos and we'll be seeing unexpected combinations such as the sushi tacos, breakfast tacos and even ice-cream tacos. Okay, the Mexican’s might not agree – but we do.

Bring me Flowers

Honey Lavender Madeleines

Bird Pick Tea & Herb

Just when you thought your plant food obsession had reached an all-time high, we go further into the garden to bring you floral flavors. These botanical additions are vamping up our dishes to include rose butter, violet jam and lavender frosting to add a more feminine approach to this years baking.

Say Aloha to the Poke

"End of the Month" Tuna Poke Bowl

SideChef

Poke is by no means a new creation however, this traditional street food appears to be even more popular this year. Despite still not knowing the correct pronunciation (it’s like quinoa all over again), the poke trend puts Hawaiian cuisine in the new year spotlight. Lookout for the dessert poke bowls!
